This is an Elephant?

Update for end of January

January 2026 has come and gone. Amazing! Time really does go faster the older I get. Now 3 months into my 76th rotation around the sun. I am slowing down, and we know that when you slow down time speeds up. We are having a very mild winter here in the lowlands of the Pacific Northwest. We need more snow in the mountains as does most of the western states.
What is the wrap-up for the month?
Biggest thing:
I am a walking miracle. I underwent another "percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)" (cardiac catheterization procedure). It was my second one; first was in December, that one followed a angiogram in November. Both PCIs were done at the University of Washington medical center. I had a very good doctor and team. Modern medicine, technology combined with knowledge equals miracles. The best miracle is my wife Carol. She was with me every step of the way.
Reading:
I did pretty good. I managed to finish four, maybe five, books. February list will be posted later.
Painting:
I finished 8 paintings. And, as I wrote in January, I am posting all of these. (Found on the Gallery Page.)
One of my many challenges in learning watercolor painting is drawing. The basis of the painting is the initial drawing, and I need to learn to draw much better. One painting of the African Elephant demonstrates the problem.

How to draw an elephant? Fortunately, there are a many websites and videos about drawing an elephant. So after a few tries I got to where I was satisfied enough to put one on watercolor paper and throw some paint at it. This process is what I go through for nearly every painting. So, February I am going to concentrate on improving my drawing skills. I hope.
